About:
Vera Gaye Basil joined the CHBC Pastoral Staff in 2005 to serve in the position of Office Manager. Vera was saved in July 1973 at Union Missionary Baptist Church at Austin Tracy, where she attended with her parents, Ralph and Nancy Strode. She grew up in Glasgow, graduating in 1982 from Glasgow High School. She was a member of the Glasgow Scottie Band playing the clarinet and bagpipes. After graduating and working for New Farmers National Bank, Glasgow Daily Times, and other businesses including a time as a stay-at-home mother, she went to Glasgow Christian Academy. There she severed 8 years as Elementary Secretary and Admissions Counselor. She has participated in clinics/training with KBSA (Kentucky Baptist Secretary Association) at Campbellsville University; ABeka at Pensacola Christian College; and KIS Photography in Georgia.
Vera Gaye is married to Richard Basil. They live near the church on Tick Ridge with her beautiful daughters, Kezia, Leah, and Rebekah Thompson. Richard and Vera have been married since August 5, 2006.
In 2008-2009 Vera completed the study, Experiencing God, by Henry Blackaby and Richard Blackaby. Her favorite authors are Elizabeth George, Beth Moore, Stormie Omartian, Kay Author, and Liz Curtis Higgs. Her favorite series is Brides of the West 1872 by Lori Copeland. She enjoys playing the piano, singing, scrapbooking, fishing, and picking a little on the mandolin and bass.
In August 2008 the Lord called Richard, Vera and the girls to serve at Hiseville Baptist Church. Richard is the Music Minister and Vera is the pianist. They both teach Sunday School classes and are involved with the Men and Women’s ministries.
